Brecon Beacons, Wales 2nd - 5th January 2025
2nd January - 5th January 2025 - SOLD OUT!
Reset from a busy Christmas and New Year with us for three nights on our January hiking yoga retreat in the Brecon Beacons in 2025. Start the year off feeling refreshed by staying at our cosy location, energising with hikes, unwinding with yoga, and enjoying delicious vegan food.
We also run our January retreats in Yorkshire, Cornwall & Peak District. Find all of our New Year Retreats here.
We are excited to announce that we will return in early January for our hiking and yoga retreats in the Brecon Beacons.
It is also just after the festive season, a time that may have been busy, and now you have a window of time just for yourself.
Take these three nights in January to rest and rejuvenate in your own time and space. It’s not all relaxation; you will enjoy a blustery hike in the Brecon Beacons National Park on one of the days and enjoy beautiful scenery and fresh air. There is also a setting intentions workshop to clarify your goals for 2025 and what you’d like to keep in 2024. Relax by the fire and read a book or snooze, have a massage, or visit Hay on Wye. Truly, you will feel rested and restored, ready for winter.
The venue is right next to Hay-on-Wye in England and on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The nearest train station is Hereford, and we recommend arrival and departure times so you can arrange a shared taxi with other guests.
Stay in a family-owned multi-property estate that dates back to 1176. It was originally a farm serving the local monastery. Since then, it has undergone stunning renovations to create a beautiful retreat space.
Why not stay in one of the main barns? Or maybe, try out a quirky converted wheat silo, perfect for two people. Either way, you will enjoy lots of space and room options.
With up to 3.5 hours of yoga a day, delicious vegan/veggie food from one of our fabulous chefs and gorgeous accommodations, you will feel cared for throughout.

Accommodation in Brecon Beacons
Located close to the literacy town of Hay-On-Wye, the property was once part of the farm serving a Cistercian monastery founded in 1176. Steeped in history the individual barns and buildings have been lovingly restored and updated to create a stunning home from home space.
Beautiful gardens create a multitude of private oases to relax in spread across the 4 individual buildings, each with their very own unique style and character, that we inhabit during our stay.
We have a choice of 6 single rooms with double beds and an ensuite bathroom, 3 single rooms with double beds with shared bathroom with 1 other room, a twin room with its own bathroom and a twin room with a shared bathroom with one other room. The Wheat Silo is a quirky accommodation for two people sharing a double bed and it has its own kitchen, bathroom and living space and stunning views of the Brecon Beacons.
The yoga studio is a beautiful, long barn conversion full of natural light and double doors that open up into the inner courtyard and the valleys beyond.
Sustainability
We are working towards reducing our carbon footprint, and here are some ways we, as a company, are doing this.
We are a 88% vegan company, 10% vegetarian and 2% fish or meat (only when staying in boutique hotels that offer these options). This makes up a huge percentage of carbon emissions that we avoid so easily because our food is still delicious, balanced and even more creative. So, thanks to you all for enjoying our healthy (mostly) plant-based meals.
The difference: Most travel companies struggle to reduce their travellers’ meat and dairy consumption, which accounts for a large portion of their carbon emissions.
We stay primarily in one location for the duration of the retreat. We have started staying in a few locations on our long haul, but it is limited to 2 or 3 locations over an 8 – 10 night period. Staying in one place means low carbon emissions because we aren’t burning fuel to get around.
The difference: Other adventure travel companies move around every two days, using alot of petrol in vehicles for sometimes only 1 or 2 people.
Our activities are low-impact—yoga, hiking, surfing, skiing/boarding, whitewater rafting, SUP, and kayaking are all very low-carbon activities, in fact, zero-carbon (except skiing/snowboarding due to the ski lifts, which is also low). These activities are included in the price we measure. The carbon may increase with travel to and from these activities in vehicles.
The difference: Other travel companies can include high-carbon activities in the price, such as jet skiing, quad biking, and jeep driving, which increases their carbon footprint.
We run more than half of our retreats and holidays in the UK; these are very low-carbon holidays.
We currently don’t measure our guests’ travel as part of our carbon output because our guests don’t only come from the UK, so it is hard for us to predict this. We also don’t include travel in the holiday price, which is not part of our calculations. We know that we provide these holidays, so we are looking to include this carbon measurement in the future so we are investigating how we can reduce this.
The carbon measurements at the top of the page with the icons are per person for the whole retreat.
Ultra-low-carbon holidays
These holidays are below 200 kg per person, and our UK retreats are below 100 or even 70 kg, so these are great adventures for low carbon breaks.
Ski holidays are actually low in carbon!
In France, many ski resorts are turning to green energy to power the lifts. If you eat low in meat and dairy while you’re there and hire your ski equipment, this makes your trip as low-carbon as possible.
How can you help?
There are ways that you can help reduce your carbon when coming on our retreats and holidays:
Travel by train, try slow travel across Europe and the UK.
If travelling abroad to Europe or further afield, choose carbon capture schemes, check out Ecologi. Offsetting is not the best thing to do these days, but try carbon capture where you pay for carbon to be absorbed into the environment.
Car share UK – we recommend when guests travel by train to arrive and depart at the same time to taxi share – which helps keep costs and carbon emissions down. Why not consider car share, too? Most guests who drive come alone or with a friend; we have WhatsApp groups that, if you like, you can see who is driving from your area and enjoy getting to know each other on the way to the retreats, and save on your carbon emissions at the same time!
We are by no means saints when it comes to producing carbon, as a travel company we know this is very difficult to reduce. We are working to reduce our carbon output each year by measuring it and then creating plans to reduce it. We are reviewing all our venues and asking them how they can improve their carbon reduction as we don’t own any of our venues but we would like to work with them to help in any way we can. We want to be transparent with this, so please get in touch for more information. As we change things, we will update the website.

Reviews
Beautiful Brecon Beacons
Join us in Wales, in the county of Breconshire where we hold yoga retreats in two different venues. They are both nestled into the Brecon Beacons National Park, so that you can enjoy an energising and revitalising active yoga retreat surrounded by breath-taking scenery.
If you love to be in the Welsh countryside, surrounded by rolling hills, rivers, streams, nature and peace and quiet this is the right yoga retreat for you. With the closest town being Hay-On-Wye, you are in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park. About 3 1/2 hrs from London or 1 1/2 hrs from Bristol, take time out of your busy schedule to really relax and restore body and mind in this healing space.
You can choose to be as active or relaxed as you like on this yoga retreat, enjoy the free guided hike and then enjoy the grounds of the retreat to relax.
For those who want even more, Brecon Beacons activity holidays offer a variety of activities to choose from, like canoeing down the River Wye, horse riding or wandering into Hay-On-Wye as it is only 10 minutes away and exploring the infamous book shops and cafes.
About the yoga
The classes are suitable for all abilities on our January hiking yoga retreat in the Brecon Beacons. From beginners to intermediate and advanced levels, everyone is welcome. Furthermore, our inspiring and experienced teachers are well-practised at adapting the class to everyone’s level.
The yoga teacher will create a more dynamic class in the morning with a vinyasa/hatha flow to prepare you for the day’s hike and adventures. Then, the evening class will be slightly longer with yin and restorative practices to enable deep relaxation with Yoga Nidra.
