Tahini Dressing – A salad dressing to tantalise taste buds and make your salad the yummiest meal of all!
On our retreats, it is often the simple things like this Tahini dressing that wow our guests the most. It seems, people don’t really think to make them at home! Honestly, there is no need to be buying pre made salad dressings when they are this easy! Ofcourse, also this delicious! Furthermore, you get to avoid the added preservatives and nasties in pre made as well as the packaging! Making your own dressing basically makes you a kitchen superhero.
We love this dressing on a multitude of meals. Great on salads, burgers or just drizzled over roast veg! Why not give it a go and see for yourself.
Benefits of Tahini
Before you make your tahini dressing, a little bit about the magical ingredient! Tahini is a paste made from sesame seeds, which are very high in copper. Copper is an essential mineral for the body to produce hair colouring amongst many other important roles in metabolising nutrients. Another mineral found in high quantities in sesame seeds is magnesium which helps to calm the nerves and relax the muscles. It is essential for metabolism and production of serotonin.
Tahini Dressing Ingredients
– 1 tbsp Tahini paste
– ¼ tsp honey
– 3 tbsp olive oil
– 4 tbsp warm water
– 1 tbsp flat leaf parsley, finely chopped
– Juice of one lemon
– Salt and pepper to taste
Method
To start you tahini dressing, combine all ingredient in a small bowl and mix gently until you have the desired texture, add water/lemon/oil until you have the balance that is right for you.
This tahini dressing is fabulous with lentil burgers and lots of salad. This really makes a salad so much more interesting than just leaves. You can also add it to steamed vegetables for a different taste.
