Cristiano & Matilde
Cristiano and Matilde are partners in practice, teaching, and their path – blending experience with fresh perspective to create retreats that are not only transformative but deeply human. They share a passion for caregiving and healing through food, yoga, and simply being present, making it their mission to host spaces where people can slow down, connect, and explore the practice beyond the physical.
Cristiano’s yoga journey began in 2010, first as a student – overcoming hernias and disc issues through dedicated practice – later as a teacher before it became his life’s dharma through yoga Therapy. Even though he started covering for his teacher in 2016, he only became certified as a teacher in 2018, (by Manu Yoga School), attending and organizing several courses, retreats, workshops, week intensives, culminating with another YTT in 2023 at Astúrias Yoga School. In that same year, and already counting with the precious help of Matilde, founded Cristiano Yoga School. His approach is grounded in anatomy, biomechanics, and Yoga Therapy, shaped by years of study and hands-on experience assisting students with injuries and limitations. With a background in multiple yoga styles, he combines precision with playfulness, believing that strength and discipline should always be met with patience and kindness.
Matilde first arrived at Cristiano’s school as his student, dedicating her life and energy to the practice and delving deep into the philosophy and history of yoga. Ashtanga Yoga took her by surprise, and before she knew it, she was fully immersed – committing to daily Mysore practice, becoming a certified yoga teacher in Asturias Yoga School, and assisting and teaching at Cristiano Yoga School. For her, yoga has been a humbling and transformative journey, one that she now shares with others in her own playful way, blending the fundamentals of Iyengar, Sattva, Vinyasa and Yin yoga to meet Ashtanga. She aims at creating an adapted practice, with a light, fresh and innovative approach that allows to integrate all kinds of people and body types.
Together, they have hosted nearly a dozen retreats, creating spaces where practice, nourishment, and community intertwine effortlessly – sometimes guiding students on the mat, sometimes behind the stove preparing delicious plant-based meals, but always as a team. Their retreats are an invitation to dive deep into practice for what it is, embrace simplicity and freedom, dance, share stories, bring up forgotten talents, connect to our inner child, and share plenty of laughter along the way.
